Social link vs e-culture?

For e-culture, I think it’s a little as o-culture. Could you say it’s anti or pro social? It depends what you put into! And I don’t believe, the culture has a responsibility. It’s not culture that is anti social, but education, and conditions of life.

In fact, I think the real question is to know if e-culture trends to break it off social links. If you look people, you can see the breaking, but in first it’s a social and cultural breaking.
On the contrary, e-culture contributes now to create news links. For young people they have appropriate internet, and they develop news social links, with tribes, and a the blog is a social phenomena (skyblog for example), with more 2 millions blogs!

On the other and, you could have a risk, because the relationships need physic contacts. In the life, you can write, phone, write a mail, but how live without a smile, a tear. If you use internet and e-culture for new relationships, it’s a good think. If you use in place of them, it’s dangerous. But the phenomenon is complex. When “loft story” was on TV, I was afraid! But young people created communities on internet, spoke about that at school, and a lot of relationships was developed from this TV emission.

In France you have a good writer about these viewpoints: Philippe Breton. You have a good article of him in ‘Le Monde diplomatique”.

We discussed in our class about the principles and qualities of e-culture. And we have had to do a blog as application. Now, when you see the blogs of the students, you have a good idea about these qualities, in own blogs, and in the others blogs on the network.

In first, the transparency is a reality. At the beginning, I wasn’t convinced. But now when I’m looking for something, I realize I very often can find it. For example, you have a lot of blogs about European Constitution. The governments have had to give all text on the net, on newspapers. It wasn’t the same thing for the treaty of Maastricht. And a lot of blogs give you information very interesting. I found an article, written by a young man: he worked for the vote yes, and now, he thinks it was a mistake. He explains why. Internet offers this opportunity of transparency.

In blogs of my friends, you have too a little transparency (about motivations for example), even if some say they don’t want it! In fact, I said transparency draw a new landscape on the world.

Two other qualities are important: impermanence and precious opportunities offered on the net. I think impermanence can be a difficulty, when you aren’t sure in validity of information. On the other hand, if you have an open mind, you can extract a lot of advantages. If I take the same example of European Constitution, you can see how impermanence obliges governments, and politicians to change arguments because, when an argument is false, all people are quickly informed. For the “yes”, you have a blog actualized each day, and for the “no”, it’s the same thing! And you have too, the blog “yes and no”. All these blogs are from the same party! In fact, in politic, you have really precious opportunities.

But I have a lot of photographs in my boxes, about my holidays with good memories. So, I decided to put one of them on my blog. It's a mountain I like very much. We say "the" Dibona, because it's an unforgettable top of a mountain, in the National park of Ecrins.

You find it in a very small valley of La Bérarde. After a long way, you arrive at the refuge of Soreiller. The landscape is extraordinary when you see the Dibona for the first time. When I climbed it by the way Boell with a friend, the sky was marvellous. And I hope to go again.

And I put an other memory, with my wife, on a way in the "Dent Parrachée", in Vanoise.

So, now, I am going to think to my exams, and my studies!

Small book about communication

I discovered a little book that I recommand to you, if, like me, you need improve your English in communication. The title in French is "Les mots clés de la communication des entreprises" (Key words in business communication), in Lexipro collection, Bréal éditions, Paris, 2002.
Inside you'll find words and expressions classified by theme and matter, from French to English. I give you some example of themes: communication and persuasion, commubication techniques, direct advertising, public relation, communication strategy implementation, ...
At the end you have an index of words used in the book.
It's not only e-culture, but you have expressions shared between communication and e-culture, and they are in a context that I believe interessing.

"Blood work", a book from old culture...

This evening, I would speak you about a writer Michael Connelly and a book I read in 2002: Blood work (créance de sang en français). The hero is Terry McCaleb, who was a top man at the FBI until a heart ailment forced his early retirement. It's not a hero in fact but the woman was friendly and needed help... I recommand this book because I found into that I believe to be american culture and detective stories.
Blood Work won the Grand Prix, the highest honor for a mystery novel in France. It also won the Anthony Award and Macavity Award for Best Novel of 1998.
Blood Work was released motion picture with Clint Eastwood.
And Michael Connelly use e-culture for intimate his oeuvre on his site.
I recommand you to read this book while you holiday...when you'll have.

Old culture and e-culture,..

E-culture can be old culture on the net. And old culture can use Internet. For example, the museums on Internet put in scene old pictures descended from the past. The "Musée d'Orsay" in France is a good example. And "old culture" can be modern culture. But in all cases, E-culture need to soak her roots in the past.
I believe the paradigm "e-culture" can't be opposed to "old culture". You can speak about e-culture and culture without Internet.
On the other hand, you have the concept of electronic art. I think this term is more exact for describe the movement of artists who use electronic technologies. And these artists contribute to the e-culture. In France you have a lot of sites, inventoried by the governement, on the culture site. One of them is very nice, click here for see it.

I am a supporter of the Open source programs. Open source doesn't just mean access to the source code. The distribution terms of open-source software must comply with 10 criteria. In fact I think a program is as a mathematical formula. Imagine a "Bill" Pythagore who will have a licence on the Pythagoras's theorem. Euclide wouldn't invente the reciprocal, and today you could pay to use the fomula and to do matematical research. I'm not a "communist" as Bill Gates said, or IBM is communist. This company said the last month it's for free software. Open source programs are a condition of research development. On the contrary, the private companies have a place , because they can access to the worldwilde knowledge. Otherwise, it'll be only Microsoft and fews companies which will can develop theirs programs.

Does Internet insert us in a new creation of social bond era for the employees? Will they make irruption in the field of the E-citizenship?
The rupture of the social bond, real, is also the reflection of ruptures in work. The construction of collective networks of sociability can find to be expressed in new identities and solidarity.
The employee is in the heart of the social reports/ratios and can take a central place in the emergence of a new citizenship.
I hope to contribute to a development of communication and information technologies for the employees.
My project is in fact to discover new territories of sociability, to contribute to the installation of services, so that the employees use them fully.
I hope to find a new dash in my professional life, continuously to learn. What I like in the TIC, it's that they are always moving.
I want a life moving, a movement different from what I lived in the trade union before, but a movement in catch with the life of people.
They is enthralling to begin studies at my age, even if it's not easy (point 5: perseverance...).
When I think that I knew the punching women of the subway with my grandmother...and now I'm going to work in Internet!

On your site you need to speak to each one, to personalize your speech for each one. Dell Computer has a big target: Home and Home office, and on this homepage, the customer is at home, and Dell offers him all he needs.

4. Create communities of value

We will be posting frequent status updates as to our progress with the UMO service. and also source software, there are many ways to get help with using Mozilla products.

With Internet explorer it's the same thing, but it's not free, and you have viruses offered, a lot...
I'm enjoy!...One hour again to get updates and to configurate my computer.

Since fews years, we assist to a new phenomenon: the flahsmobs. What are they?

It a very shirt assembly, without objet, in a public place, organized by internet.
For example, one was to open and close his umbrella while 5 minutes. It was all! And after? After,... nothing! What is the meaning of this thing? A new community? No because it's only on this moment and you'll never see the people. A fashion phenomenon? Probably, and a trying game. But now we don't heard about these flahsmobs.

Negative effect of holding on the things
I don't know a company which refuse internet. But you have companies which don't mesure all they can do with it. For example, B to B is the first market on the net, before B to C. And in the B To B, the steel market is the first in the world, and you have great companies, and federative site.
